Koi: According to the Japanese are the only fish that can swim against the current, resembling the male gender, in fact in Japan when koinobori (鲤 帜) also called Satsuki-nobori (皋 帜, さつき のぼり) are flag-shaped tent used in the Kodomo no hi (こども の 日), a festival dedicated to children is held every May 5. Formerly the name of this national holiday was Tango no Sekku (端午 の 節句).

in Japan has always been the month of May has been regarded as the month of purification, always been done many rituals to ward off evil spirits. Thus after the Nara period was chosen this special month which celebrates the joy of children. Koinobori
flags, as I said before, are posted on this holiday, normally set a flag for each child who has within the family, some hanging by just a boy. Besides this shows the Kabuto (helmet traditional Japanese armor) to symbolize a strong and healthy child. Ebrané Children's Day, kites are made in the form of fish (Koi no bori)
